I watched Civil War recently and I was struck by how well-made it was. The pacing kept me on edge, and the cinematography was top-notch, capturing the intensity of the scenes with precision. Kirsten Dunst and Cailee Spaeny delivered strong performances, and Stephen McKinley Henderson really stood out as the wise and hardened Sammy. Visually, the movie was stunning and had this haunting quality that stuck with me. The cinematography was on point, creating an atmosphere that drew me in.
Despite all this, I couldn’t help but feel like something was missing. The film didn’t seem to offer anything new or meaningful in its portrayal of war, which left me a bit disappointed. Some of the music choices felt a bit out of place, which pulled me out of the moment a few times.

What bothered me was the lack of depth in the story. The film felt like it was treading over familiar ground without adding any fresh perspectives. Sure, it was set in a near-future America, which could have been an interesting twist, but the narrative didn’t delve into the complexities of why war happens or what drives people to such extremes. Instead, it focused on the idea that war is bad, which we all already know. I wanted more from the film, something that would challenge me or make me think differently about the subject.
Overall, while I appreciated the craftsmanship that went into Civil War, I felt it was a missed opportunity. The film had the potential to explore relevant themes and offer something unique, but it ultimately fell flat for me. It’s a movie that looks great and has solid performances, but I don’t think it’s one that will stick with me for long.
