So, I recently watched Wolfs on Apple TV+, and honestly, I went in blind. I didn’t watch the trailer or read the synopsis or anything. George Clooney and Brad Pitt team up again in this comedy-thriller, playing two fixers who are forced to work together after they’re both hired for the same job; cleaning up a messy situation involving a dead body in a fancy hotel. Right from the start, their chemistry is undeniable. These two know how to bring out the best in each other with quick-witted banter and that effortless charm we’ve seen in other films.
The film kicks off strong, and I was pretty hooked by the premise. It’s fun watching Pitt and Clooney bicker and try to outsmart each other while things go from bad to worse with their "simple" job. They’re basically the reason to watch this film. But as the story moves along, it starts to get a little too complicated for its own good. There are twists, and while they’re not bad, they feel a bit forced, and by the second half, the pacing slows down quite a bit. I found myself more invested in the banter between the two leads than the actual plot.
Visually, the film is slick, and New York at night gives it this cool, moody vibe. But I couldn’t shake the feeling that something was missing. There’s not much depth to the characters, and you never really get to know them beyond their witty remarks and slick skills. It’s like the film wants to keep everything on the surface, which is fine for a fun watch, but it doesn’t leave much of a lasting impression.
That being said, if you’re a fan of Clooney and Pitt, you’ll probably still enjoy this. They carry the film on their shoulders, and even with its flaws, Wolfs is entertaining enough for a laid-back evening. You just can’t help but enjoy their back-and-forth, even when the story gets a little off track. It’s like spending time with two old friends who can make even the most mundane situations feel fun.
TSHC Score: 6.5/10
Wolfs is not the kind of film you’ll be talking about for weeks, but it’s enjoyable enough if you’re in the mood for something light and easy. Just sit back, enjoy the banter, and don’t expect too much from the plot. It’s more about the ride than the destination with this one.
